How many of us get the chance to say “This decision changed my life” and that too at a young age, it is pretty rare. I am fortunate enough to write my first blog on it, my transformational “fat to fab” journey. I am basically expressing my gratitude for the journey via this blog (words) and hopefully helping to inspire others like me as a side effect.

A year and a half of sweaty days.

I will try to cover all the aspects of my life affected by this one decision of mine i.e., transforming my physique and the domino effect on my habits and lifestyle. Starting it off with an understanding of the concept of human potential.

Discovering Potential

For almost the first 20 years of my life (am 21 now) all I ate and did was eat junk and play video games, hence I was overweight and obese weighing 103 Kgs when I first started my fitness journey. Well, surprisingly it turned out my lazy ass body really enjoyed sweating, and from the very first week in the gym all I was looking forward to every day was hitting the gym. Fast forward to six months of training every day with only a home food diet I lost more than 30 kgs and gained some muscle and shape 😃. Now this realization that I was able to correct my 20 years of unhealthy lifestyle in 6 months of disciplined hard work, also made me realize the immense potential we humans hold in us. Following this realization, a hunger for growth and development kicked in me.

The Domino Effect

Following my undertaking the identity of a fit guy, I began wandering more in the space of holistic fitness and on “how to live a healthy, and successful life?”. This pursuit led me to various resources such as podcasts, blogs, books, etc. on the topic of holistic growth and success, which gave birth to his new hobby of learning. This gave a new meaning to my life, a life of exploring curiosity and questioning everything to feed this craving of knowledge and learning.

“Stay hungry, Stay Foolish.” ~ Steve Jobs

This quote by Steve strongly resonated with my newly developed personality, a student who is hungry for knowledge and foolish enough to question simple yet complex things. Although the actual meaning is different from how I resonated it with my journey, the flexibility of its wisdom is what makes the quote so simple yet powerful.

Toppling the fitness domino, the second was the growth mindset. The Growth mindset triggered a different worldview for me, it exposed me to the real world full of constant ups and downs, and how I can manoeuvre through this simple yet complex journey while not conforming to the norm and leading life on my own terms.

After discovering my love for learning as a result of the growth mindset, I was able to build up a series of habits that complimented the mindset. Starting with the habit of reading, I had always hated the practice of reading due to my lack of concentration. But after understanding the power of words, and the impact of reading on our brain’s consciousness, I was able to finish more than 6 books in the last six months. The amount of perspective we can gain via books is just incredible, will definitely write a blog on it soon.

Basically, one thing led to another, via books and podcasts I learnt about how meditation and journaling play a huge role in strengthening our mental fortitude. Thus, I started meditating and journaling as well, and those two alone have increased the quality of my brain’s functioning. For instance, I have a lot more clarity of my thoughts and my level of awareness has also increased a lot. The mind-muscle connection and the focus during workouts are also immensely improved as compared to pre-mental training days.

Although these changes and habits are not special in general the effects of them on my life personally are something to be shared, and acting upon that idea, I decided to start blogging and hopefully inspire someone to take control of their life and start writing their own destiny like fitness did for me.

Thanks for reading and good luck with your journey, keep striving, leveraging, and learning. Cheers to a life worth living.
